Available in both silver and white/dark grey, this purifier marries top performance with an aesthetically pleasing design, as is the Swedish way. Ideal for smaller rooms and spaces, up to 175 square feet (about 13’ x 13.5’), the Blueair 203 HEPASilent air purifier just might suit your needs. Lets get into its operation.
Very similar to its big brother, the 403, the 203 runs the same way but is designed to clean smaller spaces. With the same environmentally friendly design features as the 403, the Blueair 203 is a HEPA purifier you can feel good about buying. It is Energy Star Rated, using no more energy than a light bulb. In addition, the steel used to make it avoids the more common plastic used on many purifiers and the filters are made of a naturally bacteria inhibiting (no chemical lacing on these filters) medium which is also recyclable.
The purification begins by charging the particles in the incoming air so that they are naturally attracted to the filter. Then as they pass, there is increased efficiency of the particles trapped. This purifier is capable of trapping at least 99.97 % of particles .1 microns and larger, as opposed to the more common .3 microns and larger specified by the HEPA air filter definition. If that doesn’t make sense to you, it simply means that the filter on the Blueair 203 can trap smaller particles, cleaning your air more thoroughly than a standard HEPA filter. There is an activated carbon filter called the SmokeStop filter which is offered by Blueair.
This allows the Blueair 203 (and their other models) to trap some of the gaseous compounds in your air that may be causing undesirable odors (also includes toxic gas compounds). I do think that Blueair does a good job here. These are not like the chincy carbon filters found in many air purifiers. They have a significant amount of the stuff inside, about 2 lbs. to really aid in removing things that the HEPA filter won’t get. It is less of a marketing ploy and more of an actual quality option.
There is no ozone emission with Blueair purifiers. The expected filter life is around 6 months, so expect to be replacing the HEPA filter about twice per year. This is slightly more than with some other brands but as we mentioned, these filters are more efficient and effective and for a true allergy sufferer, the costs incurred are small when you are getting real relief. This model features 3 speeds which is pretty standard among air purifiers these days. At 25 lbs. this unit can be easily moved around the house for use in various rooms throughout the day. Blueair purifiers live up to their name and reputation, and for smaller rooms/areas, the Blueair 203 comes highly recommended.

Below, we have provided real-time pricing on the Blueair 203. We offer the pricing both at Amazon and with our recommended specialty e-tailer, AirPurifierSource.com. We find that many people tend to purchase from Amazon simply because it easy and familiar to them, but when it comes to specialty purchases it can be very beneficial to have the backing of free support over the phone, in addition to the expert care that a specialized retailer can provide (especially when the price is the same).
